It offers flavors of lemon, almond, apple, honey, spice and mineral. Styles of wine vary from sweet to dry.
The dry wines are quite mineral with flavors of apples and lemons and need aging to become honeyed. Sweet wines are honeyed with flavors of apricots and peaches.
It is also the third most planted grape in California, where it used to contribute acidity in inexpensive wine blends. The grape is known as Pinot Blanco in Brazil, Chile, Mexico and Argentina. But it is unrelated to Pinot Blanc. And in South Africa it is known as steen.
