As a teen Beckstoffer spent summers working in the vineyards and the wineries of Napa Valley. Thirty-four years later, this kid, Tuck Beckstoffer’s The Seventy-Five Wine Company is dedicated to pioneering change by producing premium wines of great distinction at reasonable prices. These high quality, reasonably priced wines (in the $20 range) come from his home in the heart of Napa Valley.
“It all started for me in 1975 in the vineyards of the Napa Valley. The Seventy-Five Wine Company is about continuing that tradition. I insist on over-delivering on every one of your expectations: wine quality, pedigree and price,” Beckenstoffer says. With deep roots in the vineyard and an unending passion for winemaking, Beckstoffer strives to produce the best wines vintage after vintage, ensuring a consistent, high quality wine.
This hand-selected, handcrafted vineyard designated Cabernet Sauvignon comes from the Amber Knolls Vineyard. The grapes are organically grown and sustainably farmed. The 2005 vintage of Amber Knolls Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is 100 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, was aged 16 months on French oak, and offers notes of cherry, cranberry, and rose petal leading to earthy spices, vanilla, and cocoa.
The fruit for the 2007 Sauvignon Blanc—100 percent Sauvignon Blanc—was sourced from the Famous Block House Vineyard in Yountville. The Block House Vineyard is the oldest, Sauvignon Blanc vineyard in Napa Valley and has been organically farmed for over 30 years. This wine saw no oak. It was aged on lees for four months. Thus its varietal characteristics and acidity are true to the Sauvignon Blanc grape. It offers notes of grass, citrus, pineapple, melon, pear, and grapefruit. It has a lively minerality and rich mouth feel with a lingering, citrus finish.
Beckstoffer also offers wines from Vinifera Vineyards, which is the original name of his company, Beckstoffer Vineyards. The Vinifera Vineyards Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2005 is 100 percent Cabernet Sauvignon of grapes sourced from various vineyards in Oakville and Rutherford and aged 22 months on French oak. Fruit driven notes of ripe raspberry, black cherry and dark chocolate are balanced with silky tannins and a nice acidity.
The Seventy-Five Wine Company and Vinifera Vineyards wines are available locally at Bottega, Cafe Dupont, Hot and Hot, Satterfield’s, and The Village Wine Market.
